School History
In the early 1980's, God placed a vision in the heart of the leaders of Cagayan Gospel Church to provide quality Christian education and spiritual formation for the children and youth in our community. This vision became a reality when, by the grace of God, Oro Christian Grace School was established in 1986.

The first school year saw the opening of Nursery and Kindergarten classes with a total of 49 students. Classes were held at the Sunday School Building within the church premises, located at Tomas Saco 15th Street.

God's hand of blessing was upon the school as it continued to grow in the years that followed. In 1987, DepEd recognition for the preschool program was granted. By 1989, Chinese classes were offered for Grades 1-3, while the English Department opened Grade 1 with 11 students. The total enrolment was 85 students. A year later, the number had tripled, with a total of 271 students enrolled.
With the growing enrolment came the need to relocate and expand. in 1990, through special offerings from church members, Cagayan Gospel Church purchased a piece of land a few hundred meters away from where the church was located. Soon, construction of the new school building began. Initially, some members of the Filipino-Chinese community also saw the vision and pitched in. Over the years, church members—young and old—continued to pledge offerings to build a new school building, driven with the vision to provide quality Christian education for our youth. There were many challenges along the way, but with God's grace, construction continued until the first phase was completed.

June 1991 marked a milestone as OCGS moved in to the new campus at Biasong Tinib Road, Macasandig, with a complete elementary program. A year later, DepEd recognition for the elementary program was granted.

As the school continued to grow, so did the need for more facilities. In 1995, the second phase was completed, adding a new wing to house science laboratories and more classrooms. In 1996, the third phase saw the construction of the Multi-Purpose Hall, new preschool classrooms and library, Music Room and Speech Laboratory. In January 1997, DepEd recognition for the high school program was granted.
In the following years, OCGS has seen its share of improvements, alterations, and additions. New science laboratories, the covered court, new offices, technology and livelihood rooms, classroom multi-media equipment and air-conditioning, the mini-park, and the PS-Elem Building are welcome additions to the growing school community.

In May 2013, the Enhanced Basic Education of 2013 RA 10533 was signed into law. The New K to 12 effectively revised the Philippine education system from a 10-year basic education curriculum to a 13-year program comprising of 1 year of kindergarten, 6 years of elementary, 4 years of junior high school, and 2 years of senior high school. Keeping in stride, OCGS successfully transitioned and started implementing the K to 12 Program in SY 2013-2014 with DepEd approval. In SY 2015-2016, having been granted the DepEd Senior High School Permit, OCGS opened Grade 11 as an early implementer with a total of 56 students in the ABM, HUMMS and STEM Strands - the first school in Region 10 to open SHS with a full Academic Track. March 2017 marked a new milestone for OCGS as it saw its first graduates of the Senior High School Program, numbering to 51 students. Once again, God's hand of blessing has enabled the school to successfully implement the K to 12 program.

In July 2015, construction began for the new Preschool and Elementary Building, which is set to be completed by 2017. The new building will provide additional facilities for indoor parking lot, spacious dining halls and canteens, preschool and elementary, classrooms and library, HELE room, Computer Room, offices, assembly halls and sports facilities. The main building campus will then be used for Junior and Senior High School classrooms, laboratories and facilities.
The sparkling facilities are reflected in the achievements of OCGS students and alumni as they continue the school's proud heritage. Bridging the gap between students and alumni, and welding these two generations together are the most important distinctions of the OCGS family: the challenging academic program, the caring atmosphere, and the pursuit of excellence and godly character for God's glory.

Today, Oro Christian Grace School stands as a powerful testimony of what God can do through ordinary people who attempt extraordinary things for God. In God's strength and by God's grace, OCGS continues to move ahead with the mission of building excellence and character in children and youth who will make a difference for Jesus Christ in the world.
