Finally, after a two-month long summer break, OCGS opened its hallowed halls to warmly welcome students, staff, teachers, parents, and alumni to start the school year with a bang! Of course, the starting point of the year would not be complete without the DBS festivities! Daily Bible School (DBS) is an annual OCGS event where Bible lessons and stories are shared through meaningful teachings and wisdom-filled words from June 9 to June 11, 2026. The joint DBS program between elementary and high school students was opened by Pastor Goldie Christine Andico, along with singing and dancing from select faculty and Student Council volunteers. They danced to lively songs such as God Is and You Know Me, reminding us of the power and omnipotence of God.

The school theme for SY 2026-2027 is Rooted and Rising, which also complements the DBS theme, Rainforest Falls. Jeremiah 17:7 states, "But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him," and we are called to stay rooted in God's love and rise in excellence as we continually put our faith in God.
Day 1: God Knows Everything
God knows our hearts, our struggles, and our disappointments. Pastor Joseph Paul Andico opened the first day with a reading of Psalm 139:1-3. Pastor Paul highlighted three main points: God knows us completely, God knows my future completely, and God knows me and still loves me. The lesson reminded us that we are indeed sinners, and God knows all the sins we have committed. However, God still loves us deeply despite our imperfections.
Day 2: God is My Safe Place
Pastor Francis Agustin Martos invited the students to a reading of Psalm 142:5, reminding them that God is a place of refuge for them. He emphasized three reminders: God is our strength, God is always present, and God gives us peace. As we enter the new school year with anticipation of what the future holds, we are reminded to seek peace in God's loving arms, as He helps us stand firm in our faith. Like a strong tree, God is a haven where we can rest in him, and he will give us the comfort we need.
Day 3: God is Love
On the third day, Pastor Ryan Prince Vasquez reminded us about God's greatest character—his love for us. He introduced three important truths: God's love is selfless, God's love is unconditional, and God's love is powerful. "The cross is the ultimate picture of selfless love," stated Pastor Ryan, which further shows the sacrifices God made because of His steadfast love. Lastly, he shared that God's love is so powerful that it is much stronger than our very own sins.
The Elementary and High School DBS officially came to a conclusion on June 11, 2026, and this closing marked the beginning of a school year filled with blessings and excitement. Truly, this was the starting point of an unforgettable year! As OCGS steps forward to a new school year with new blessings from God, let us remember to stay rooted in faith and rising in excellence and confidence on a firm foundation. Let us all say at the top of our lungs: Wow, God!
